From it's first appearance the Sun Fast 26 has appealed to all sailors with the design by Philippe Briand that has the beam carried all the way aft. With this modern concept, twin rudders, high aspect main, 'L' shape bulb keel and retractable bow sprit for the asymmetrical spinnaker it can achieve speeds that exceed hull speed limits.
The wide beam aft contributes to stability while providing a huge cockpit area, bigger than some 40 footers. The twin rudders enable precise control while heeled and when flying the asymmetric spinnaker you don't need a superman on the foredeck to jibe. It comes with a pole for poling out the heads'l when cruising.
From a cruising perspective the design has a very roomy interior with a double vee berth f'wd and another large double in the aft cabin. 6'1" headroom in the saloon, practical galley with a 2 burner gymballed stove and stainless sink. Opposite is a separate hand basin and toilet area with a holding tank.
Referred to by club members as "that pretty yacht" it is easily handled with it's furling heads'l and lazy jacks and bag for the main. Takes just minutes to get sailing and to put to bed. Upgraded Ex-cel anchor for peace of mind when anchoring overnight. The rigging was renewed last January and a full motor service in March.
A fun fast yacht easily sailed, perfect for weekends away and in excellent condition.
Inspection by appointment at Koolewong Marina.
